- Is the contractor Insured?
Ask for a certificate of coverage. It is for your protection.
- Is the contractor registered in this state?
As of July 1992 all persons engaged in home improvement business must
be registered by law.
- Is the contractor licensed in this state?
If the contractor asks the Homeowner to get the building permit this
may indicate they are NOT licensed.
- How long has the contractor been in business?
A good qualified contractor should have at least five years of experience.
- Ask the contractor for references.
A contractor should be able to supply at least (10) current references
of jobs completed.
